How the French elite rested on the beaches of Deauville in 1900-1938

In the 1860s, a railway appeared in the Norman town of Deauville, connecting it with Paris. This wonderful event almost in an instant turned such a paradise into a favorite vacation spot of the French nobility. Rich men and aristocrats began to gather for fresh sea air on the coast of Lamanche. However, in addition to the hot sun and sandy beaches, Deauville could offer its elite guests luxurious mansions, expensive boutiques, casinos and horse racing. Vacationers also liked to walk along the local promenade, ride on donkeys, take therapeutic baths or work out in gymnastics.
