An island with a crown of clouds. One of the most amazing places on our planet!

A group of 18 Faroe Islands is a secluded place in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, located in a remote neighborhood with Iceland and Scotland. The Faroe Islands, although they belong to Denmark, but since the mid-20th century, most of the state issues here have been resolved without the intervention of the Kingdom.

Among the Faroe Islands, the uninhabited island of Luytla-Duymun, also known as Small Duymun, is the smallest, its small area does not even reach one square kilometer. Its highest point is Mount Ravan, which goes up 414 meters. The uniqueness of this island lies in the fact that clouds gather right above it, which seem to lie down to rest or take a nap. It looks just magical!

Translated from Celtic, “duimun” means “two hills”. They are located on neighboring islets and are called Big Duymun and Small. The latter was never inhabited, and its only inhabitants are sheep and puffins, such seabirds.

The plant world of the island is also not very diverse and has no more than eight plant species.
In 1850, Denmark sold Luytlu-Duymun for 5 thousand Danish thalers. However, the bidding was not entirely fair, since the royal representatives deliberately overstated the price in order to replenish the Danish treasury.
