12 photos from a six-star hotel in North Korea that puzzles tourists

Hotel "Ryangan", located in Pyongyang, is considered the most luxurious in North Korea and proudly bears the status of a "six-star". Citizens of this very closed state believe that the hotel is worthy of praise and is really distinguished by high-class service. However, in reality, everything does not look so glorious and rosy as in words and in the minds of local residents.

On the TripAdvisor website about the Ryangan hotel you can find more than 30 reviews, most of which are very unflattering, and the overall hotel rating is 2.5 stars out of 5 existing.

Tourists staying here were dumbfounded by the real level of service, interior, food and the degree of comfort that Ryangan offers. The opinion of one Briton who stayed here in 2012 is: “The beds are so hard that it seems to me that it would be more comfortable on the floor ... I washed the toilet and soaked my feet.”

He was echoed by a guest from Cape Town: “A classic Soviet-style hotel. Gloomy, poorly lit, stone beds, poor food and interruptions with hot water - and that's not the worst!” The only plus point this guest found was that such conditions and service best introduced him to the local flavor and lifestyle.

However, according to another tourist from Estonia, this is not the only positive point: “Of the good, it's a large flat-screen TV with one channel, a North Korean propaganda channel, where a woman announcer struggles to sound inspirational while showing clips with Kim Jong-un against the background fields and buildings. "

Note that it will not be possible to find out more information about the odious hotel until you cross its threshold, because Ryangan does not have its own website.
