Japan at the beginning of the 20th century: 19 interesting black and white photos

In 1908, the famous German-born photographer Arnold Gense went on a 6-month trip to Japan. Then the Land of the Rising Sun did not yet know what industrialization was, and stayed in the Meiji period, which lasted from 1868 to 1912. In the pictures left by Gens, it is clear what kind of life the inhabitants of this beautiful, largely incomprehensible, elegant and amazing country led us to.
