Active Israel

If you don’t like to sit still even on vacation, if you can’t imagine your life without sports and entertainment, and you need adrenaline, like a morning cup of coffee, we’ll tell you how to have fun and actively spend time in Israel. Get ready, it will be interesting!

In Israel, an active lifestyle is very popular, which only benefits some restless tourists. Significant investments are made in the development of sports and all kinds of entertainment, and it's great! It doesn’t matter what you are fond of at home, when you arrive in Israel you don’t have to take a break in classes, and if you suddenly want something new, there are plenty of options.

In the sea

Waiting for you at the sea: jet skis, water skis and bicycles (catamarans, simply put). In addition, motor boats and boats on turbines, kayaks and boat trips (even with a transparent bottom). More kitesurfing, windsurfing and wakesurfing. And this is only in Eilat! Wow!

Eilat is generally a great city for any kind of activity, although most often people come here for breathtaking diving and snorkeling. The explanation is simple: the Red Sea, coral reefs, dolphins, hundreds of colorful fish and incredible underwater beauty, and most importantly - many places to dive. A true paradise for divers, no less!

Eilat diving clubs are located on the southern coastal strip. Its large segment is a conservation area. One part of the strip is public, the other is available for visiting at an additional cost. The most interesting diving sites are the Coral Reef Nature Reserve, The Tables (Tables), The Caves (Caves), The Mosquito (Komar), and The Japanese Gardens Reef (Japanese Gardens).

Experienced divers will find something especially interesting - the wreck of the Satil. The length of the vessel is 40 meters, the keel is sunk at a depth of 22-24 meters, and the deck - at 18-21. The ship is covered with algae and corals, located 70 meters from the coast and is extremely interesting for research. The spectacle is amazing, do not miss it!

The best diving centers of Eilat: Isrotel Manta, Aqua Sport, Divers Village, Marina Divers Dive Center, Sigala, Deep Siam and NEMO.

In addition to snorkeling and scuba diving, go snorkelling and scuba diving or engage in freediving (snorkeling with holding your breath). If this is not enough, go on a diving safari - a kind of sea cruise with diving.

If you are a fan of surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing or sapboarding, then you are in Netanya - the real Israeli Riviera, whose coast stretches 12 km along the sea. There are several schools that will put on the board even a beginner. In extreme cases, a boogie board (this is such a “board” made of polystyrene foam) is also fun! Good surfing schools in Netanya: Amit Inbar and Kontiki. By the way, on the Kontiki beach (the surf club is named after the beach) there are excellent opportunities for snorkeling.

An excellent classic surf, kite and windsurfing awaits fans of these sports in Haifa. Most of the boards you will see on the public, but at the same time very comfortable and picturesque Bat Galim beach. It is there that the strongest westerly winds, so necessary for kite and sail, blow. Surf lovers from around the world have long chosen this place and are jealous of their waves. It is on this beach that the Red Bull Storm Rider Windsurfing Championship is held annually with the participation of world famous surfers.

Of course, in these cities there are other popular marine entertainments: jet skis, skis, boats, yachts, tubing, etc. There is nothing to count.

In Tel Aviv, many beaches are closed by breakwaters, so in the summer they are practically not suitable for surfing, but they are ideal for winter surfing (with Israeli winter winds!). Good beaches for winter surfing in Tel Aviv: Dolphinarium Beach (Drummers Beach) and Hilton. If there is no desire to wait for winter, you can go diving or snorkeling. Fans of boat trips are advised to go sailing - the view of the city from the sea is simply gorgeous.

Those who prefer fishing should take a closer look at Haifa and Eilat. There are very interesting places for this.

In the air

The most desperate will be interesting to jump with a parachute and see at the same time four countries, the desert, the mountains and the Red Sea. Among the Eilat entertainments are skydiving and, if you are not averse to trying, go ahead! Bear in mind that you will have to jump with an instructor, but it’s much safer. The speed of jumping from an airplane is 320 km / h, the fall lasts about 20 minutes. Landing takes place on a picturesque beach (after such stress, you will probably want to swim!).

If for this you have not yet matured, try paragliding in Netanya. Even children from the age of six take flight, so ... why not ?! You will also have to jump in tandem, but, as they say in American cinema, "this is for your safety."

Another option, so to speak, the light version, parasailing is a very fashionable active type of recreation. The parachute is tied with a cable to a boat or jet ski, and you soar at a height of 60 meters. Parasailing is very popular in Eilat, Haifa, Netanya, Tel Aviv and other Israeli resort cities.

And in Haifa there is a funicular. Well, just in case.

On the ground

Let's start with a simple one: beach soccer and volleyball are played in any resort in Israel. In many cities - tennis (especially excellent venues in Ramat Hasharon and Netanya), football, basketball and even golf (well, what an option!). In Israel there are karting and rollerdromes, skateparks and riding clubs. And also amusement parks with paintball and a climbing wall. Excursions in jeeps and ATVs are also available. In general, whatever your heart desires, just choose. We recommend paying attention to some special entertainments in Israel.

One of them is cycling trips. The overwhelming possibilities of Israel, of course, are enough for ordinary bike rides - in all major cities there are bike rental points, bike paths, and just good asphalt, but Israel has amazing nature, mountains, canyons, desert, in the end, you can ride a bicycle everywhere .

Of course, before a bike trip or bike tour, you need to soberly assess your skill and strength. The length of some routes can reach 60 km, have prolonged climbs of more than ten km (Jerusalem Mountains) or be difficult climatically (route along the Negev desert or Arava). There are a lot of options, and they are all interesting. If you are fond of cycling and like to test yourself for endurance, be sure to try it!

Speaking of bicycles, it is worth mentioning the huge bicycle park in Netanya (the entrance from Dgania Street, the old industrial zone). Its area is 4 ha. This is about 8 football fields, which, of course, testifies to the rapid development of cycling in the country. In short, stop by for a ride.

Hiking is one of the popular attractions in Israel. Excursions and trips for nature lovers can be simple and entertaining, difficult, or entertaining and informative. Choose you.

The Eilat region with its desert and mountain landscapes offers great scope for trekking among canyons, cliffs, caves and gorges of mountain rivers. Very interesting: Timna Park, Red Canyon, Solomon Pillars and Mount Shlomo. The most difficult hiking trails are captured by steep stairs and valleys with dry river beds, so it is better to objectively evaluate your strength and skill.

If you want something very special and national, go hiking along the famous Israeli hiking trail Shvil Yisrael (Israel Trail). Just keep in mind: this walking route requires serious preparation - its length is about 940 km. If you wish, take a chance to increase to 1000 km, with the approach to the Dead Sea.

The route is continuous and winds throughout the country from north to south from the Lebanese to Egyptian borders. It is laid out so as to cover all the most interesting natural and historical sights of Israel, while passing public roads and settlements, which means that there will be a lot of ups and downs. Not everyone can do it.

Marked tracking trail, divided into 52 day crossings, less than 20 km per day. If you are in good physical shape, you have extensive experience in sports hiking and mountain hiking, then you will be able to complete the Shwil Israel in 42-45 days. Crossing all of Israel from edge to edge sounds tempting, doesn't it?

Israel is great for snapping or kayoning. Fans of speleo-snapling (downhill skiing along steep walls) should get to the Colonel salt cave in the vicinity of the Dead Sea. First you need to climb the plateau of Mount Sodom, from where fantastic views open, and then go down to the cave. Descent into a well about 70 meters high - you will not forget this!

The winding passages and huge gaps of the Colonel Cave are strewn with stalactites, you need to move carefully. After the descent, it will be pleasant to swim in the Dead Sea, we recommend doing so.

Other interesting places for descent: Qumran gorge (Dead Sea) with cascading walls and Black Gorge (Golan Heights).

If all this is too much for you, feel free to go to the Negev desert, there are races on SUVs, excursions in jeeps, horses and camels.

Another great entertainment is a safari in the Hi-Bar Yotvata reserve (near Eilat), where about 50 species of rare animals and birds live: antelopes, leopards, hyenas, wolves, foxes, jackals and griffins. Oh, you’ll see such people nearby, as if you are going to worry!

And something special

Israel is not only a summer vacation, but also a winter one, and in winter special entertainment is needed, for example, skiing or snowboarding. You will be surprised, but there it is!

An excellent ski resort in Israel is located on the highest mountain in the country - Hermon (about 2800 meters). Its length is more than 60 km, so that it is suitable even for beginners. And if you combine two vacations in one, for example, Eilat and Hermon, you will be able to swim and ski. Here it is! Pack your bags, fly to Israel, there will be something to do!
