21 breathtaking photos of isolated tribes from around the world
A few years ago, we first saw stunning photographs that Jimmy Nelson published in his book Before They Die. They captured over 30 endangered tribes from around the world. Jimmy traveled the world from Mongolia to Indonesia, spending weeks with each tribe to study their culture and make really dramatic shots.
In 2018, Nelson published his second major project, Dedication to Humanity. He became acquainted with 34 local cultures on 5 continents and at the same time again visited some of his past travels.
"When I was 17 years old, I started the journey and still abide in it today- says the photographer. - It's about reuniting and finding yourself. I hid it and masked it with photography, tribes and cultures of indigenous peoples, but ultimately this is a very personal journey, born of the desire to feel, survive and be alive. ".
In his writings, Jimmy explores the idea of reuniting with our roots and our humanity. He believes that indigenous peoples play an important role in our perception of ourselves as people. That is why he invites everyone to join the global discussion on cultural identity.
Soon, Jimmy Nelson plans to release a film that includes 1,500 photographs. "They are all united by one amazing journey through the cradle of human culture.".
