The most saline lake in the world is in Antarctica

In Antarctica, in the Wright Valley, there is a small, inconspicuous-looking lake, which is called Don Juan. You can find it between the Asgard ridge and Mount Olympus. Despite the fact that there is only an ankle of water in it, the lake is nevertheless the most saline body of water on the planet, the salinity level of which is 18 times greater than in the ocean, and amounts to more than 40 percent.

Don Juan was discovered in 1961. Today it is believed that he gets his salt from groundwater, which oozes from the mountains. Due to its extraordinary salinity, the tiny lake does not freeze even at minus 40 ° C.
