Tenerife for families

Children love Tenerife, because here they are waiting for real adventures: watching whales and dolphins in the open ocean, visiting fascinating shows with killer whales and sea lions, walking along the Planet of Penguins and a tunnel full of sharks in Loro Park, as well as rope park where you can ride on a zip-line.

Adventures on the island of Tenerife can be found literally everywhere: in the Atlantic Ocean, on the tops of volcanoes, in the green jungle, orchards and even on the beaches. Imagine a place where there are many water attractions, slides, swimming pools with waves, large and small beaches with black and light sand, and which offers an incredible amount of all kinds of entertainment. This is Tenerife.

Water activities

Tenerife is first and foremost a luxurious vacation on the ocean, ideal for the whole family. The best beaches for families are shown on the map.

Most of Tenerife's beaches have the international Blue Flag Award, which means that they are distinguished by comfort, water quality, convenience and a high level of safety even for the smallest.

For families with children, Playa del Duque beach is recommended. It borders the city promenade, there are eight other beaches nearby with restaurants, cafes, bars, as well as all the necessary infrastructure: sun loungers, a lifeguard team, a shower, toilets and parking. Kids under the supervision of adults can build sand castles, create small natural pools for themselves, play ball, swim on air mattresses or just splash around in warm water.

To surprise children, to show them new and unusual, it is worth visiting black sand beaches, most of which are located in the northern part of Tenerife. Lush palm trees are reflected in the blue waves of the ocean against a background of black sand. Volcanic sand is also useful: it has a positive effect on the human body due to the wide range of minerals in its composition.

As for adolescents, they prefer to try a variety of water activities here, such as riding a jet ski, kitesurfing, windsurfing and parasailing.

Another interesting place for children of all ages is the natural pools in the cities of Bahamar, Punta del Hidalgo, near Los Gigantes or in Garachico in the complex of pools Caleton. You can relax with even greater pleasure in the municipal complex of Costa Martianes in Puerto de la Cruz. The coast, transformed by the project of the artist Cesar Manrique, consists of a large artificial lake with sea water, four pools for adults and three for children, many bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as souvenir shops.

But don’t think that is all! In the capital of the island of Santa Cruz de Tenerife there is a huge park "Maritimo". It includes many pools, recreation areas, restaurants and sports facilities.

Amusement parks

No family will have time to get bored in Tenerife - there are so many wonderful theme parks that you will certainly want to visit each of them.

Perhaps the most popular amusement park on the island is Siam Park in Costa Adeje. It is stylized as the Thai kingdom of Siam, once very rich and powerful, so everything here is done on a grand scale. This is the largest water park in Europe. There is an artificial beach with three-meter waves, the highest slides, a windsurfing area, a pool with sea lions ... you just can’t list it all!

To see the performance of killer whales, sea lions and dolphins, you need to visit the “Loro Park” in the north of Tenerife, in the city of Puerto de la Cruz. In the park live two male gorillas, Bengal tigers, Whistiti babies, rare nutria, bamboo sharks (there is a whole tunnel), manta rays, bats, penguins and many others.

In the Aqualand water park in Costa Adeje, you can find a variety of water attractions, as well as a fantastic view with dolphins.

In the southern part of Tenerife there is an amazing zoological and botanical park called the Las Aguilas Jungle Park. It recreated the real jungle and collected about 500 animals, including monkeys, predatory cats, as well as many species of birds. The show of birds of this park involves colorful parrots, toucans, rhinoceros birds, and most importantly - eagles, kites and vultures.

The world of adventure will open for the whole family in the rope park "Forest", which is located in the protected area of Las Lagunetas near the city of La Esperanza. In it you will find more than 90 games above the ground, 11 rope routes laid among the trees, several suspension bridges and zip lines.

Nature and museums

If children are interested in seeing wild animals in their usual habitat, go watch the whales in the strait between Tenerife and the island of La Gomera. Fauna lovers are advised to take a walk through the laurel forests in Anaga Nature Park. Children will be delighted!

Families who prefer a rich educational program should pay attention to several museums on the island, for example, the Carnival Museum located in the city of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Its exposition will allow you to learn more about the history and features of the famous holiday in Tenerife, the whole family will be able to try on bright costumes and watch an impressive 3D video of the carnival.

In addition, there are two scientific museums on the island that children will definitely like: the Museum of Nature and Man, whose exposition is designed to tell about the culture of the Guanches - the indigenous people of the Canary Islands, and the Museum of Science and Space in La Laguna - an organic blend of a traditional museum with an amusement park .
