5 statues inside which amazing ancient artifacts were hidden

Any historical relic is able to give scientists a lot of information about past times. Ancient statues are no less valuable objects for science, especially when curious little things are hidden in them. This has happened more than once, and today we will tell you about the most unusual finds that were hidden inside the monuments, which surprised even researchers. Such surprises, as a rule, are very unpredictable, and some are completely discovered by accident.

Monk skeleton

A unique case occurred during the study of an ancient Buddha statue. Inside it was the perfectly preserved skeleton of a monk who died in the 10th century. His remains were mummified, and then exhibited in the temple. However, after a couple of centuries, the decomposition process still made itself felt. Then the body was placed inside the statue. According to scientists, now it is no longer possible to extract the skeleton, since it is likely that it will simply decay.

Ancient banknote

In Australia, a bust of a Chinese Buddha who was over 640 years old was being prepared for auction, and accidentally stumbled upon a rare cash note hidden inside. It was released in 1371 and looked more like a letter. It contained a text urging people to immediately tell the authorities about counterfeiters.

Real teeth

In Mexico, in 2014, a wooden statue depicting Christ was sent for restoration, during which it turned out that her mouth was full of real teeth. Since the lips of the statue were closed, it was impossible to see what was inside, and it was possible to detect strangeness only thanks to an X-ray. By the way, in the 17-18 centuries in this country there was a practice when believing parishioners bequeathed some parts of their body to the church.

Pure Gold Buddha Statue

The three-meter Buddha statue was created in the 13-14 centuries and is now located in Bangkok. Initially, when it was brought to the city at the beginning of the 19th century, it was made of plaster and did not represent any value. The truth was revealed only in 1955. The statue was transported to another temple and accidentally dropped. Part of the plaster broke away, and the picture that appeared before the eyes of eyewitnesses shocked everyone. It turned out that all this time a statue was hidden inside, made of pure 18-carat gold. It was covered with a thick layer of plaster in the 17th century in order to hide the value from the Burmese who invaded the country.
