According to legend, when Ludwig returned from a trip to the Prague royal court, his guard saw an eagle whose claws were hidden in a cleft of the rock. They helped the bird of prey to free itself, and since then it supposedly hovered over their heads and protected from danger. In gratitude, the archbishop ordered to capture the eagle with its powerfully spread wings on the coat of arms of the house. The noble bird still protects this house, but its appearance has changed somewhat. She turned into a two-headed eagle, symbolizing the empire, with a crown, a lion on her chest, a sword and a rod in her paws.
