In India, a restaurant put a fridge outside to feed the homeless

Restaurants throw away a lot of food. Even though many large companies such as Starbucks have changed their policies, the rest still send food to trash cans. But all these products and dishes could be in the stomachs of people who really need them!

When the owner of a restaurant in the Indian city of Koti saw a homeless woman eating from a bin, she realized that she had to do something. So Minu Paulin had a brilliant idea. Knowing that there was a lot of food left in her Pappadavada restaurant, she decided to put a refrigerator on the street so that homeless people could use it. The refrigerator is available 24/7 and anyone is free to take food from there. It is regularly filled with benefactors and ordinary people, and Paulina herself puts about 75-80 servings of food a day into it.

“Money is yours. But resources belong to society,” Minu said in an interview. “This is my message to the world. If you are wasting money ... you are wasting society’s resources.
