Prosecco's homeland and ancient drawings of Americans: 9 new and beautiful UNESCO sites

Today, 1121 sites around the world are on the UNESCO list. Not every attraction can fall into it: the nominee must have exceptional natural beauty or it must be a man’s ingenious creation, which is not only beautiful, but also carries great historical value. Every year the list is updated, and recently 29 new objects have got into it. All of them are now under the special protection of the United Nations and with a high probability they will stand for more than one century, preserved for future generations. The new "members" of the list have one feature: until they are flooded with tourists. From the bizarre Pitcher Valley to the ancient cave paintings in Canada, we decided to show you the brightest ones especially for you.

Iceland: Vatnajokull National Park, where you can see glaciers, a black beach and volcanoes.

Portugal: Mafra Palace, built in the early 1700s, located in the suburbs of Lisbon.

Myanmar: the ancient city of Pagan, which was once the capital of the state of Pagan. Thousands of ancient pagodas and temples built in the 11th-13th centuries have been preserved here.

Italy: the wonderful towns of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, real wine capitals where the famous Prosecco is made.

Laos: Valley of Pitchers, where more than two thousand giant stone pots made by people of the Iron Age are scattered. And today, historians cannot say exactly what they were created for: according to one version, these are funeral urns, in accordance with another, water containers.

Brazil: Ilya Grande Island, also called the "island of miracles" and the resort town of Paraty, where you can explore mangrove forests and waterfalls.

USA: The Solomon Guggenheim Museum in New York is the world's most visited museum of modern art.

Canada: a park in Alberta, which locals simply call The Writing-on-Stone (inscription on the stone). Here, over the valley, bizarre stone columns rise that erosion created. On them are ancient drawings of residents who once inhabited these territories: they were made two thousand years before the first contact with Europeans.

Portugal: Temple of Bon Jesús do Monti, towering on a mountain overlooking the Portuguese city of Braga.
