Dzhigokudani - a park of snow monkeys that you fall in love with at first sight

Dzhigokudani is a park where a colony of Japanese macaques lives, which is extremely interesting to watch because of their rather original behavior. This place is located on the Japanese island of Honshu at an altitude of 850 meters.

Japanese Snow Monkeys chose this natural SPA salon in 1963. Almost immediately, it was decided to open a park here, which subsequently began to gain more and more popularity and world fame.

A lot of tourists flock here from the end of November to March, wishing to watch the swimming of charming monkeys and their habits.
Thanks to their thick fur, this species of macaque can withstand temperatures below -15 ° C, however, as the locals say, there is a story about one female who noticed a handful of beans in the water and decided to get into warm water to get them. The rest followed, and this long-standing tradition was born.

There are not so many representatives of this species in nature; they are on the verge of extinction.

When the macaques need to dry, they begin to sort out the wool from each other, helping it to dry in this way and showing their love. As soon as night falls, snow monkeys go back to the forest, under the protection of tall trees.
