God of toothache or dentistry in nepali

In which only gods you will not believe when your tooth hurts. Probably, in any culture there is a special deity in charge of our teeth. In European, it is a Tooth Fairy, which brings a child a coin for a lost tooth, compensating for his pain and suffering. Nepal also has its own fairy - the god of toothache, Vaishya Deo. Oddly enough, it is part of the dental services in Kathmandu. Here's how it works ...

In the center of Kathmandu there is a small square with a small Hindu temple Vaishya Deo - the god of toothache. On the corner of one of the buildings adjacent to the square, there is a large piece of wood, completely covered with small coins nailed to it with nails. This is the altar.

If a Nepalese tooth is ill, then first he goes here and nails a coin in the hope of an easy way out of suffering. If this does not help, then there is nothing left but to go to the dental clinic. And there are a great many of them. Dental salons, from luxury to tiny appetizers, occupy a whole block around the temple.

If you look closely, almost all nailed coins are old and dusty. This is due to the fact that the small coins of past years were aluminum and it was easy to break through them. Modern coins are made of steel coated with brass - you can’t take such a nail. Therefore, now they insert a coin just like that, into the cracks between the old ones, from where the beggars regularly take them.

So they live.
