Huge multi-colored squirrels live in India, and it seems that people only learned about it

Rodents have gained a reputation for small, nimble and very wayward pests, which also carry diseases. But perhaps our today's heroes will be able to correct the situation.

Meet the Malabar giant squirrel, also known as shekru. She lives in India and looks absolutely magnificent in her magnificent, multi-colored "fur coat".

For those who in life have encountered only ordinary gray or red squirrels, shekru will be a shock. Firstly, as the name implies, it is huge. The length of the body along with the tail can reach one meter, although the majority is still the tail.

But you are mistaken if you think that such large and colorful creatures are easy to spot. Black, brown, orange, burgundy and purple shades of their hair help them to camouflage themselves perfectly in forests where squirrels usually live.

In the matter of nutrition, shekru are not too pretentious and eat what they find on the tops of trees. They hang and swing on their long tails, inspecting the tree in search of flowers, seeds, bark or insects. Sometimes even bird eggs go into the diet, if any are freely available.

Very little is known about these amazing animals, but it is believed that their numbers are declining. This is mainly due to the fact that people want to get exceptionally beautiful malabar fur.
