What teenage girls looked like during the “demonic” Victorian era

The Victorian era is often called grim and depressing. Many even attribute to her a certain "demonicity." This is not at all surprising: you just have to look at the images, art, postcards and photographs that have come down to our days from the distant XIX century. One gets the impression that people of that time received some unhealthy pleasure from flirting with death and other otherworldly attributes.

At the same time, the mystical mood and style of the Victorian years, undoubtedly, like no other period, excites the imagination and forces us to scrutinize every photograph and image left to us with close attention and curiosity. It is especially interesting to consider portraits of young Victorian beauties who were contemporaries of the girl with whom Lewis Carroll once wrote off his cult character, the very Alice.

Admittedly, the 1800s were not only unique and impressive fashion for clothes, but also very specific standards of beauty, which can not be ignored.
