What to bring from Greece

“Greece has it all,” Anton Pavlovich Chekhov once said. But why do we need everything? We need to bring something truly Greek! Something tasty or something useful, but certainly made in Greece. Let me tell you about the most, in my opinion, the best Greek souvenir products that are worth buying, traveling or relaxing in this wonderful country!

Olive oil

For me, Greece is a country of olives, and Greek olive oil is the most delicious in Europe! So without a couple of liters of oil, I personally never come back from this country. Greece is full of oil, buy the one you like, especially in almost all stores you will be given a try before buying. For salads, you can take tastier and more expensive, and for frying - the cheapest. And take it in metal cans, glass is expensive and heavy.

And if you travel by car, then stop in some village or somewhere on the pass and buy real homemade butter from the locals. This is just a bomb! True, it is not stored for long, but, as a rule, it is not stored, but is quickly eaten!

Olive soap

In addition to olive oil, soap is also made. Good, natural, healthy and very inexpensive! If you need to bring inexpensive souvenirs to friends, then take soap - it will always come in handy!

Olive Wood Products

Well, I want to finish the olive theme with products from the tree itself. As a rule, this is all kinds of kitchen utensils, but the most, in my opinion, useful is chopping boards. The olive tree has an excellent antibacterial effect, it is very environmentally friendly, very durable and ... very beautiful! The olive wood plank is my favorite in the kitchen. Next time I’ll bring one more for meat.

Honey

The Greeks are still beekeepers and honey driven on an industrial scale. There are a lot of different honey, there is for every taste. The prices are reasonable, so the souvenir is great.

Ouzo and liquors

Wine in Greece is beautiful, but what souvenir is it? But if you dig a little deeper and stronger, that is, in Greece, such a national moonshine is ouzo. This is a strong drink based on anise - anise vodka. You may have drank one in Turkey, but there it is called cancer, and in Greece it is called ouzo. In fact, this is one and the same, and this is a great men's gift from Greece. No, really, it’s not the same soap with a cutting board to bring to a man.

In addition to a strong male "anise", you can find many sweet homemade liquors, just for women. Almost everywhere you can taste everything and choose what you like best. Just do not try a lot, it's still alcohol, and quite strong.

Sponge

What could be better than a natural product. So, these washcloths - nowhere more natural, from the most real deep-sea sponges, which are full in the Mediterranean Sea. This is a wonderful souvenir, a great gift, and just a useful purchase for yourself. It is, of course, a little expensive compared to ordinary washcloths, but without chemistry!

Gold

Previously, they went to Greece for fur coats and gold. But fur coats are a separate issue, but gold can still be bought at an affordable price, although after the transition to the euro, Greek jewelry ceased to be cheap. But if you like jewelry (and which of the women does not like them), then you can go to jewelry stores. Just be sure to bargain, they will throw off normally.

This completes my Greek shopping list. But here is what else my readers suggest taking, and I agree with them:

- Greek cosmetics (based on olive oil, of course)

- Actually, the olives themselves

- Halumi sheep cheese (for frying)

- Seasonings

- Bath mats (I also took this myself, comfortable)

- Pottery with painting

- Metaxa (Greek "cognac")

- Tsipuro (rice brandy)

- Icons, amulets and all kinds of shrines

- and, of course, a fur coat!
