1930s Christmas retro train launched in New York subway: best photos

New York again proves its status as the most Christmas city on the planet in which this magical holiday comes to life in all possible forms and times. So, the Christmas spirit was not spared by the famous New York subway. At the end of November, the New York Transport Museum, together with the MTA (New York Metro), launched an amazing project: every Sunday for a whole month, a magnificent 1930s retro-train runs along the line between Second Avenue and Lexington Avenue.

Eight old cars decorated with ceiling fans, rattan seats, vintage advertising posters and incandescent lamps did not leave indifferent New Yorkers and visitors. Many are waiting for next Sunday, so that, having tried on the image of the corresponding era, get into the past and take stunningly stylish pictures in the spirit of the 30s. Instagram captivated photographs of New Yorkers who went down the subway and suddenly transferred to the first half of the last century with all its sophistication, elegance and luxury. You will find more pictures of the vintage subway by the hashtags # nycvintagetrain2017, #vintagesubway and #vintagetrain.

By the way, a train from the past will run in the New York subway through December 24, inclusive, so you can still manage to ride this wonderful time machine!
