The narrowest streets of the world, which do not always work for a walk by the handle

In our opinion, the street is a fairly wide space between houses where pedestrians can freely pass, and in most cases cars move too. However, there are also those where it is not only difficult to pass, but also to pass. These are the narrowest streets of the world!

There is only one question left on this topic - at what point does the street cease to be a street and become the usual passage between houses. There is no ready answer, and it all depends on local authorities.

For example, an interesting decision was made by the authorities at the insistence of local residents in the town of Reutlingen in Germany. The land belonging to the municipality was so densely built up with houses that it turned out to be a very tiny passage (at the narrowest point about 31 cm). But the locals, and with their opinion considered here, decided that the street should continue. It so happened that the narrow passage between the houses was part of a public street, which automatically became a landmark of the town and the narrowest street in the world.

This record was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records.

And here is another narrow street, which occupies the second place in the world in terms of its “impassability”. This is Fan Tan Alley in Canada. Its bottleneck is almost three times wider and more spacious than the absolute record holder in Germany, and is 89 cm.

Of course, the pedestrian street. And quiet. With many small cafes and bars. Which undoubtedly pleases all tourists with much more narrow passages that not everyone will overcome.

Third place in this peculiar ranking goes to Morten Trotzig Lane in Sweden.

The width of this street is only 1 cm larger than the previous one - Fan Tan Alley.

It is easy to guess from the inscription that the school is located here. But it’s rather difficult to believe it.

It is noteworthy that the street was named in honor of the resourceful merchant who opened here a shop here at one time, which brought him fame and huge profits, as well as making him the richest in the city.
