Today we often complain that food on planes, to put it mildly, leaves much to be desired at completely inadequate and sky-high prices. A small sandwich and a cup of coffee can cost a tidy sum. It is interesting to see how and what they fed on airplanes in the middle and closer to the end of the last century. Not so long ago, the Scandinavian airline Scandinavian Airlines, apparently, was nostalgic for the past luxurious times and showed the world what its passengers ate during the period of 1950-80s. Judging by the photographs, even some modern restaurants could envy the menu provided on board those planes.

Sausages were cut directly on board - at that time there were still no such strict safety rules.

Business class passengers were offered fresh fish and smoked meats, and drinks were poured into glass dishes.

In the 1960s, tea was served in elegant sets and offered a slice of fresh cake.

What about fresh fruit?

Of course, in economy class they offered more modest dinners. So they looked in the 1960s.

But the frame from the 1980s is more like modern dinners on planes.

But in business class there was a real buffet!

You could drink champagne with caviar ...

And delicious dinner with exquisite dishes from china.

"Would you like freshly ground pepper?"

In the business class in the 1980s, they still offered to try lobsters.

"I have a little piece, please!"

It seems that in those days food carts were not at all afraid of turbulence.
