Solntselet - a solar-powered aircraft called Solar Impulse-2 - resumed its amazing round-the-world adventure en route Hawaii - California. The aircraft had to stay in Hawaii for about a year, since during its flight from Japan the batteries were overheated and needed to be replaced.
On the surface of the aircraft there are 17 thousand solar panels, which operate 4 engines. During the day they charge, and at night they consume the stored energy. For the first time in the world, a manned aircraft was able to fly into the air and fly unlimited time due to the energy of the sun.
A trip around the world began with Abu Dhabi, it was from there that the start was given.
The plane flies over San Francisco (California, USA).
"Solar Impulse-2" has a huge wingspan - 72 meters.
The weight of the aircraft is 2,300 kilograms.
The previous flight of this solstice took place in 2013.
Swiss Bertrand Picard is a co-pilot on board a solar liner.
The cruising speed of the sun can reach 140 km / h.
The aircraft has enough energy accumulated during the day to fly all night, so theoretically it is able to stay in the air for any amount of time.
The device is equipped with everything necessary: food, water and oxygen cylinders. On board are equipped with a toilet, as well as space for sleep and relaxation.
"Solar Impulse-2" can rise to a height of 8.5 thousand meters, and the power of its engines in the aggregate is 70 hp.
For three days, the pilot Bertrand Picard was able to get in the sunshine from the Hawaiian Islands to the west coast of the United States of America.
The world's first solar-powered aircraft flies through the California city of San Francisco, the final destination of its journey.

The natural conditions of the Gulf of Corinth do not contribute to the construction of such a complex engineering structure as an extended road bridge. The risk of an 8-point earthquake, a depth of 60 meters, viscous, unstable soil, strong winds and constant movements of the earth's crust, due to which the shores are separated by a few centimeters a year, all this had to be overcome by the engineers and builders of the unique Rio Antirio bridge in Greece. ...
