Abandoned temples of Cambodia. Otherworldly beauties

Ancient abandoned places themselves look unusually mysterious, beckoning with an abundance of secrets. But these shots taken in abandoned temples in Angkor (Cambodia) are simply impressive.

Angkor Thom was the capital of the Khmer Empire from the 12th to the 15th century, and in modern times the ancient city and its temple complexes are the territory of a historical reserve. The photo shows one of the five entrances to the former capital.

When you visit the Cambodian complex of temples you experience a whole host of the most incredible emotions and impressions that simply cannot be described in words - this must be seen.

Angkor Wat Temple Complex

This giant Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu is the largest religious building and an important archaeological site in the world. The complex was abandoned in the 15th century. It was only open to European civilization in 1860. This temple is depicted on the coat of arms and flag of the country.

Angkor Wat has three rectangular structures in its composition, located at an ascending height to the center: from small to highest. The buildings along the perimeter are surrounded by a large wall and a moat with water, the length of which is over 3.5 kilometers and the width is about 200 meters. The internal structure consists of five towers made in the shape of a lotus, the highest of which, the central one, rises 65 meters above the ground.

Ta Prom Temple

The Ta Prom Temple, which stands alone, looks very expressive, and its huge centuries-old trees merge with the walls, hugging the stones with its gigantic roots. This amazing place has repeatedly become the place of filming of Hollywood films.

The abundance of vegetation gives the impression of a war between the jungle and the temple.

Time had a detrimental effect on the structure, because even after some refinement, it still does not look the same as several hundred years ago, and remains dilapidated.

The temple does not have a pyramidal shape and resembles a labyrinth, and the roots of the trees intertwined with the walls so that they turned into a single whole, now they help to keep the brickwork in place. So gradually nature conquers the territory belonging to it from people.

The demigods Apsaras in Hindu mythology, like the Greek nymphs, were the spirits of clouds and water and were depicted as beautiful women in rich robes.

Bayon Temple Complex

The complex was built in the 12th century; it is known for its smiling faces.

The interiors of the temple give the impression of mystery.

Temple complex Banteaysrei

Banteaysrei is located 25 kilometers from the main group of temples of Angkor, right at the foot of the Cambodian Mount Phnom Dai. This temple was built in honor of the god Shiva.

Preah Khan

This is not just a temple, but a real Buddhist university, which was taught by over a thousand teachers. In this place you can see such endless corridors.
