Twice a day, this road becomes the most dangerous place for car owners ...

This road, which runs along the bottom of the Bay of Burniöf and connects the island of Noirmoutier with mainland France, is simply unique. The fact is that 2 times a day at this place something unimaginable happens. The road called Passage du Gua regularly goes under water. During low tides, it literally stands out from under the water column for a couple of hours and becomes accessible for transport. The rest of the time, Passage du Gua is hidden under water at a depth of 4 meters.

It is worth noting that the length of the road is 4.5 kilometers. Not such a long way, but rather dangerous. The road has large signs with a schedule of tides. True, despite this, many people still fall into the trap. For the "lucky ones", whom the water took by surprise, specially built rescue towers where they can wait out the tide, but in this case they can say goodbye to their car once and for all.

The transition between the island and the mainland was discovered back in 1701.

In 1840, a major cobblestone road was laid along the bottom of the bay.

Surprisingly, it is a fact: despite the fact that Passage du Gua is almost constantly under water, it does not collapse, unlike our roads.

I would like to see this sight with my own eyes! It is unlikely that your friends saw something like this.
