In California, there is a farm where only robots work

It turns out that robots can not only collect cars at giant plants, but also grow lettuce, basil and other herbs. Such production was implemented without human intervention, that is, all work on a mini-farm - from watering, moving pallets with plants to harvesting - robots carry out offline.

California-based Iron Ox has been preparing to launch this project for about 7 years. The area of the automated farm is about 300 square meters. m, and it works due to solar energy. Plant nutrition is carried out using a hydroponic system, when nutrients dissolved in water enter directly to the roots of plants.

On a mini-farm, basil, coriander, lettuce, cabbage and other types of plants grow, and robots take care of them, who use many sensors to assess the condition of the plants.

According to the organizers of the project, growing greenery indoors using robots can significantly increase yields compared to growing outdoors. One such farm is capable of growing more than 20,000 plants per year, and using an automated plant control and robot labor system increases the profitability of such a business. In general, the creation of robotic farms for growing herbs and vegetables is considered a very promising direction, and similar projects already exist in Europe and China.
