Sunken Atlantis: where a stone road leads off the coast of the Bahamas

Between the Bahamas, located east of the coast of Florida, is one of the most mysterious buildings on our planet. Here, on the seabed, sandstone stones of various sizes are lined with a 700-meter road, called the Bimini Road. Most researchers agree that it is of man-made origin, and some even believe that it is part of the sunken Atlantis. But who built it, where it leads, and what happened to the civilization that left its mark on the seabed, is still not clear.

The mysterious road was found by Manson Valentine at a depth of about 5-6 meters in the coastal waters of the Bimini Islands, which belong to the Bahamas. Since its discovery in September 1968, this stone structure has been the subject of research and ongoing scientific debate.

A number of experts, including historian David Zink, who organized several archaeological expeditions to the Bimini road, believe that the underwater route from rectangular calcareous blocks was laid out by people. The age of stone blocks, according to radiocarbon analysis, is about 3,600 years. At the same time, studies using the uranium-thorium method determined the age of the stone road at 15,000 years. Therefore, with the time the road was built, there is currently complete uncertainty. The lime blocks are rectangular in shape and their edges are rounded, which may indicate signs of processing.

In addition to the main road, two more with a similar structure were found parallel to it. The calcareous blocks that laid the main road have sizes from 2 to 4 meters, and the companion roads are composed of smaller blocks, with a length of sides of 1-2 meters. A similar arrangement of stone blocks also indicates the man-made origin of objects, since in addition to them, such large accumulations of limestone blocks are not found in this part of the seabed.

Supporters of the idea that this road may be connected with the mystery of the sunken Atlantis, cited the words of Edgar Cayce as the main argument. The famous American forecaster told the world that in the Bahamas at the end of the 60s of the 20th century, lost Atlantis could be discovered. But besides these neatly laid blocks in the vicinity of Bimini, no other traces of ancient civilization were found. This gave reason to believe that the stones may be of natural origin. This version is also supported by the facts of the discovery of similar objects off the coast of Florida.

Be that as it may, this year marks exactly 50 years since the stone road between the Bahamas was found. But, despite all the efforts, significant successes in the study of this underwater object have not yet been achieved. And who knows, perhaps these are the remnants of the very Atlantis that humanity has been seeking for more than one thousand years.
