Incredible man: Hernandez Garrido, who has 6 fingers and toes

In Cuba, in the town of Baracoa (province of Guantanamo), an amazing person lives. He, unlike most people, has not 5, but 6 whole fingers and toes. In total, an unusual Cuban, who is a local celebrity, has 24 fingers, and friends and acquaintances call him that - "twenty-four."

From a scientific point of view, the extra fingers of Hernandez is an anatomical deviation from the norm, which is called polydactyly. Usually, people with polydactyly have 6 fingers instead of 5 fingers, very rarely people with 7 fingers are born. This feature is often inherited. Extra fingers, as a rule, are underdeveloped, and they can be removed at an early age without harm to health. But the difference between Hernandez Garrido and other people with a similar feature is that all 6 fingers of the Cuban are equally well developed. He freely uses all six, and an uninitiated person may not even notice anything, his hands look so natural. Even the orthopedic surgeon, who was shown little Hernandez, admiredly said that he had not yet met such a harmonious case of the development of polydactyly.

Hernandez himself is very proud of unusual fingers and calls his blessing. Indeed, thanks to them, he became famous. And even tourists who come to this area are in a hurry to take pictures with a unique person who has 24 fingers instead of 20. The Cuban's labor activity is related to picking coconuts. He cleverly climbs the trunk of a coconut tree, largely due to his unusual fingers and toes. At least that’s how he himself thinks.

An equally interesting case is connected with the Brazilian family of De Silva. This is exactly the case when polydactyly was inherited. All 14 members of this family also have 6 fingers on each hand. But this does not prevent them from living, rather the opposite. The whole family leads an active lifestyle, they are healthy and cheerful. Brazilians are proud of their family traits, play great musical instruments, play sports and, like all Brazilians, love football.
