Barbie brand introduced 17 new dolls, the prototypes of which were legendary women

For 59 years, Barbie dolls have been introducing girls around the world to beauty and fashion trends, but recently the company decided to change its strategy. To better understand what today's society needs, Barbie interviewed 8,000 mothers. Survey results showed that 86% of mothers are concerned about the role models their daughters are passionate about. Therefore, the company created 17 dolls, the prototypes of which were real inspirational women.

"Girls could always play different roles and careers with Barbie, and we are very pleased to present them real role models to remind them that they can become anyone"says Barbie senior vice president and general manager Lisa McKnight.

Each doll from the series of "inspiring women" comes with educational information about who this woman is and how she influenced society. Among the inspirers there are both historical and modern personalities: Amelia Earhart - the first woman to fly across the Atlantic Ocean, Frida Kahlo - a famous Mexican artist and activist, etc. At the moment, only three dolls from this series have been released, but soon the range will expand.

The brand also introduced new dolls from its 2015 Shero collection. Previously, with the help of this series, they have already honored such legendary women in history as Ibtihaj Muhammad, Misty Copeland, Ava Duvernay, Ashley Graham and others.
