In the US zoo, a female cheetah gave birth to a record number of kittens

A cheetah female named Bingwa, who lives in the St. Louis Zoo, lives up to her name. The fact is that in Swahili Bingua means "champion". And just such a title deserves a 4-year-old female, who gave birth to 8 kittens at once.

This is the first time that so many cheetah cubs have been born from 430 documented litters born at the zoo. Usually on average, a female cheetah is able to give birth to 3-4 cubs. Bingwa at one time gave life to three boys and five girls, which is an absolute record and a completely unique case. Moreover, a predatory cat takes care of its descendants on its own and does not try to abandon them. This situation is incredibly pleasing to the zoo staff.

Today, the achievement of Bingwa is more important than ever. The fastest land mammal is approaching extinction at an appalling pace. According to rough estimates, only 7,100 adults remained in the wild. Recent studies suggest that this amount may decrease by another 53% over the next 15 years.
